The new chum is brought into the Council Circle. Their hat is laid at the feet of the Cub master, who stands opposite them. Cub Master: Do you know the Law and Promise of the Timber Wolf Pack, the Grand Howl and the Salute? New Chum: Yes I do. Cub Master: What is the Law? New Chum: The Cub gives in to the Old Wolf. The Cub does not give in to himself. Cub Master: Are you ready to make the solemn Promise of the Timber Wolfs? New Chum: Yes I am. I promise to do my best, to do my duty to God and my Country, to keep the Law of the Timber Wolf Pack, and to do a good turn to somebody every day. (While the Promise is being made the whole pack stands at the salute). Cub Master: I trust you to do your best to keep this Promise. You are now a Timber Wolf and a member of the Great Brotherhood of Scouts. (Akela now gives the new Cub their badges, puts on their hat and neckerchief, and shakes their left hand. The new Cub then turns around and salutes the Pack. The Pack returns the salute and the new Cub joins their Six). The ceremony ends with the Grand Howl, in which the new Cub is now able to enter for the first time. See Also:Cub Investiture |
