Games for Deaf Boy Scouts, Cubs, Children

Games for Blind Boy Scouts, Cubs, Children

Games for Boy Scouts Confined to Bed

Games for Ambulatory (Able to Walk) Boy Scouts

Games for Developmentally Disabled Boy Scouts, Cubs, Children

This collection of games has been compiled in the hope that it will prove of help to those taking up work with handicapped or disabled children, and also those who have been doing such work over a period of years and have grown tired of racking their brains for new games.

It is not desirable, however, that it should be the main source of supply as individuals should be able to adapt ordinary games for the use of their own particular group of children.

These games have been sent in by Scouters working with Boy Scout and Cub Scout Groups all over Great Britain, and each one has been actually played by handicapped or disabled Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts and has proved to be popular with them. I should like to thank all the Scouters who have taken the trouble to send them to me for the purpose of this little book.

It is a very well known saying that "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy", but how much more does this apply to all the Jacks in Hospitals, Institutions, Special Schools and those tied to bed or wheel chair in their own homes? Only those of us who have seen and heard a badly handicapped or disabled Boy Scout Troop or Cub Scout Pack literally transformed into normal, noisy little boys during the playing of a well-run game can really appreciate the immense value of them to the handicapped or disabled child.

Here are 124 games collected to help Scouters of handicapped or disabled Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Some of them will not be suitable for all handicapped or disabled boys and the wise Scouter will adapt the games to suit the circumstances.

Some games have a training value while others are included just for the fun of it.

This collection is far from ideal. The best book of games is your own personal one which consists of those you have tested and found useful and popular with your Group.
