Swat-the-Blindman is another merry stunt. For this need only two lively boys (or girls), a couple of rolled-up newspapers, and a stick or rope two feet long.
The contestants are blindfolded and face each other in the ring, each armed with the newspaper rolled up as a club. Each now grasps one end of the short stick; the only object of this is to keep them reasonably near to each other, an they hold on throughout the bout. The object of the game is to hit the other fellow on the head with the paper club The umpire says, "Are you ready?" and slaps No. 1 on the shoulder to begin.
No. 1 says: "Are you there, Moriarty?"
No. 2 -must answer at once, "Yes, Sir,'' or "Here." Then he moves his head anywhere to mislead the other, who has the right to one immediate swat. On the next round No. 2 says, "Are you there, Moriarty?" etc.
The first one to land a fair swat on the other's head wins the round. On other places it does not count. The bout is for 1 to 3 rounds. All sorts of ingenious tricks are used to mislead the swatter as to the place of the other man's head, after he has responded "Here!"
