Program for One Long Weekend

The Long Weekend (Friday evening till Sunday afternoon) is easier to run and for that reason may be the most effective course.  It loses its advantages, however, where the boys sleep and breakfast at home.

The time table in this program has been arranged on the assumption that all meals will be cooked and served centrally by a Service Patrol of Rovers and/or Scouters. If circumstances demand that the Patrols must do their own cooking, mealtimes will need to be extended considerably and the duration of the course increased by at least 25%.

Residential Courses whether in camp, hostel, or Scout headquarters have much to recommend them, but makeshift sleeping arrangements which involve undue discomfort, or where provision for washing and sanitation is barely adequate, are to be deprecated.

If the boys return home at night, the evening meal can be omitted and a "hot brew" substituted halfway through the evening. Flagdown on such Courses should not be later than 9.30 p.m. Breakfast would be omitted and the "Limbering Up" exercises incorporated in the Games period at 9.45 a.m.
