 PART 11 -THE TRAINING OF LEADERS

1. Courses of training are provided by authority of the State Council for Group, District, and State Leaders, in all sections. 

2. The training of Leaders is designed to help them bring better Scouting to the particular Section they lead.  Therefore, it is an integral part of every Leaders activity.  They are expected to undertake training opportunities so far as they are able to.  Equally, those engaged in the training of Leaders are not a separate entity but an integral part of the main structure of scouting.

3. The full scheme of Leader training  comprises:

A).  For future use.

B). GSM Courses are designed to help the GSM in their duties and responsibilities.

C). Commissioner Courses are designed to help the Commissioners in their duties and responsibilities.

D). The Wood Bead I Basic Course (WBI), a 12 hour, in-house introduction to all aspects of this Association appropriate to their Warrant of Appointment followed by a 3 month practicum.  This must be taken before receiving their Warrant.      

E). The Wood Bead II  Advanced Course (WBII), a five day residential training program, or 3 weekends, followed by a six month practicum, should be taken no earlier than 1 year after receiving their WB1.

F).  Blank.

G). The Wood Bead III  course (WBIII ), a 3 day residential training program, would prepare Leaders to facilitate a WBI.  Following successful completion and facilitating a two WBI, Leaders would be awarded a third Wood Bead.

H). The Wood Bead IV  course (WBIV ), a 5 day residential training program, would prepare Leaders to facilitate a WBII.  Following successful completion and the satisfactory facilitating of two WBII, Leaders would be awarded a fourth Wood Bead.

4. Wood Bead Training comprises:

A). WBI : this is designed to help the Leader grasp the theoretical, fundamental principles, policy, section programming fundamentals and methods of the Movement.

B). WBII : this is a practical in-camp course to give help and experience in the proven methods of applying the spirit and practices (Woodcraft) of the Scouting movement.

5. SHQ is responsible through its Training Section for the design and implementation of training courses.
