The pocket is placed upside down, rough side of the fabric up, and the edges are folded in and ironed in place. 

To make a "Bush Shirt" with a single patch pocket, the pocket is pinned into place on the front of the shirt. The Scout Shirt has two breast pockets, with flaps that button down over.  BP would have had two flap pockets on the front instead of a single patch pocket.  This can be seen at the end of the book. 

When the front panel of the shirt has been finished, the back panel can be placed onto the front. Make sure the fine fabric sides face each other. 

Pin the back on, rough fabric side up. Sew the back to the front with a seam or overlock.  

Turn the assembly so that the fine sides of the fabric face out. 

Cut the collar strip to length, using the shirt as a guide. Allow for some extra length for fitting. Bend the 2 seams of the collar strip rough side of the fabric out and press them flat. Sew to shape. Cut out alongside the stitching and press flat. 

Turn the collar inside out so that the dressed side of the fabric is outside. 

Sew the collar onto the shirt and press it.
